The GPLBC Board has now allowed pairs practice commencing July 13, 2020.

  • You can play alone, in singles or in pairs

  • Bookings are still required - by 9:00 pm each Thursday for the following week, Monday to Sunday

  • The booking form can take 1 or 2 players - if you want to play with another pair, say so in the Comments box on page 2; specify who the other pair is or ask to have a pair assigned. The other pair must also submit a booking form.

  • Not able to book on the website by computer? Call Sharon Cowie (before 9:00 pm) by Thursday for the next week. Phone number 604-506-7502.

I am pleased to announce we have now received the necessary approvals to re-open the club for Phase 1 bowling starting on Monday, July 6.

Under COVID-19 restrictions, we are allowed to use a maximum of 8 rinks.  Initially play will be limited to solo practice and singles but we hope to go to pairs practice as soon as possible.

There will be four sessions a week:

Monday evening 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Wednesday morning 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Friday morning 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Sunday morning 10:00 am - 11:30 am

You must book in advance in order to play. We cannot accept walk-ins. Requests to book a session should be made by completing and submitting the form on the Practice Bookings Page.

Bookings should be made no later than 9:00 pm on Thursday for the following week starting Monday.  You will receive confirmation of your booking by email.  A list of bowlers registered for each session will also be posted on the Practice Bookings Page.

Please don’t arrive any earlier than 10 minutes before your start time and wait in the car park until a monitor calls you in.

On your first visit, you will have to provide a signed copy of the Phase 1 Protocol.  Please take time to read it.  If possible, we would ask that you print and complete this form before your first session but copies will be available on sign-in at the Club.  You will also need to complete the Symptom Screening Questionnaire on each visit when signing in.

I look forward to seeing you on the greens.

June 27, 2020

We are pleased to inform you that your Executive on June 9th approved a Protocol for reopening our Club.  These Protocols were derived from Bowls BC Guidelines which all Clubs are required to follow.
Initially, this opening will be for practice and singles play but it is expected that we would soon expand play to pairs. You will find the Phase 1 Protocol and waiver along with the symptom screening questionnaire (which all members are required to sign before playing) on the Practice Booking page in this website.

The Protocols stress safe distancing, sanitizing measures, and contact tracing, the three principles identified to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Also, we advise members to wear masks when entering and leaving the premises or going to the washrooms.

This process will require strict monitoring and we are pleased to report that Juanita Tucker has agreed to head up a team of volunteers to act as monitors.  We are proposing, at first, that there will be four sessions per week when the Club will be open for play and there will probably be two monitors in attendance at each opening. This will require a significant group of volunteers and we are asking you to support the Club by volunteering your services as a monitor. We shall be hosting monitor information sessions in the next few weeks and will require all volunteers to attend. Our ability to open up will depend on having sufficient volunteers. I would ask you all to contact Juanita to volunteer your services at

With respect to schedule, it looks like we should be able to open for Phase 1 bowling early in July. The exact time will be dependent on receiving all required approvals.

You will have noticed in the Phase 1 Protocol that you must reserve a time to play and this can be done on the Practice Booking  page in this website at the prescribed time in the Protocol. You must arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your appointed time and follow the Protocols and sign the relevant documents. Following your session, you should leave promptly.

You cannot turn up for play without a reservation

We are pleased to report that the greens are in good condition and will be ready for play.

Finally, we would like to thank all the Club members who volunteered their time to ready the Club for opening and also to those who generously donated to the Club in lieu of dues. We would remind anyone who has not donated, to consider doing either directly to our Treasurer, Steven Hsieh or through the Parks Board at

We look forward to seeing you on the greens in the near future. If you have any questions, please contact Alistair at or any member of your Executive
